Program Overview An internship with Securian Financial means an opportunity to create meaningful connections with established associates and fellow interns while exploring professional development in your field of study. Summer internships are intended for undergraduate students who will be completing their degree in December '25 or May '26. We are unable to pursue candidates who would require Visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Responsibilities of this role include: There are two goals in our actuarial internship program. First and foremost, to give students an opportunity to explore the actuarial field as a possible career choice. Second, we use internship programs as a recruiting tool to identify potential full-time talent. The internship will include a variety of actuarial research activities dependent upon the need of the department at the time of the internship. They may include things like expense studies, lapse studies, rate management analysis, product pricing, process automation, etc. These activities will provide an overall exposure to the profession of actuarial science.
Projects vary each summer because they are real world experiences. They are not simulated projects, but projects that have relevance to immediate business needs of the company.
Required Qualifications: - Successful track record in a four-year degree program, in Math or Actuarial Science.
- Proven project and people leadership skills which includes developing strategies, motivating individuals, providing feedback, and driving for results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including listening and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills to balance multiple projects and duties.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
