The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor position.
This position is for a tenure-track assistant professor in Nematology in the Department of Botany & Plant Pathology. The incumbent will be expected to establish a robust and extramurally funded research program that will address management, genomic and ecological aspects of nematodes that contribute to plant disease and soil function. Teaching associated with the position will contribute to the graduate and/or undergraduate curriculum in Botany and Plant Pathology, Biological Data Sciences, or related programs. The successful candidate will apply this knowledge to existing or emerging nematode issues important to the success and economies of agriculture in Oregon and the region. All research topics within the areas of nematode management, epidemiology, genomics, genetics, and ecology will be considered. We will give preference to highly qualified candidates who show potential to 1) collaborate effectively with stakeholders, Extension personnel, and researchers in other departments to develop sustainable approaches for management of plant-parasitic nematodes, 2) integrate biological studies with contemporary quantitative approaches, and 3) advance departmental goals in diversity, equity, and inclusion.College of Agricultural Sciences ( CAS ) faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic instruction, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires PhD or terminal degree (Masters for some Extension positions and MLS for Library positions), demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom Extension, or other setting, and develop a research program in the academic discipline/unit.
Requirements :
Ph.D. in Biology, Plant Biology, Genetics, Plant Pathology, Entomology, or related field.
Publication record in, or relevant to, Nematology.
Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in work or life experiences.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
