Job Description Job Description Position: AVA Event Staff
Department: Security
Job Summary: Acts as host to guests during AVA and other events. Performs services such as checking tickets to direct guests to assigned seating or providing guests with any pertinent information or assistance needed before, during, and after an event.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to): - Arrives at established time before an event - in appropriate dress - for scheduled shift; sign in and out according to established procedures.
- Ensures the venue is set and ready for guest arrival prior to gate/door opening as directed (placement of signs, barricades, stanchions, etc.).
- Learns when the gates/doors will open, running time of the show/event, including intermission, and other necessary event related information to prepare the venue and to be able to answer guest questions.
- Ensures that guests are seated in the appropriate area according to their ticket information.
- Resolves ticket and seating issues with ticket office staff.
- Maintains a presence during the event to assist guests.
- Responds quickly and courteously to guest needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
- Obtains assistance from event supervisor or Security, as appropriate and necessary.
- Reports any need for equipment and supplies to the event supervisor.
- Maintains a high standard and consistency of guest service.
- Generates positive guest public relations and encourage feedback.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of departmental standards for performance.
- Knowledge of guest service standards.
- Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to understand, adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide accurate information to guests regarding venue logistics, such as location of restrooms, phones, and concessions as well as information about the event, general building history, etc.
- Ability to read event ticket (visual acuity corrected to read as small as 11-font print) in dim lighting).
- Able to maneuver to all areas of AVA, the pool, and the conference center
- Ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and transport materials and/or equipment on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work in a smoking environment.
Minimum Qualifications: - Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available and ready to work events throughout the year, sometimes on short notice.
- Must be able to work evenings (often past midnight), weekends, holidays, and seasonal vacation periods.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a non-gaming license.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bilingual (English/Spanish).
