Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, WA) anticipates a full-time temporary lecturer opening for the2025-2026 academic year. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily introductory and upper division chemistry lecture and laboratory courses for science majors as well as non-science majors. The incumbent will possess superior teaching abilities and a willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities. This person will be invited to participate as a full member of the department. Faculty will integrate CWUs commitment to diversity and create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all students as well as contributing to the department and its programs.

• Masters degree in biochemistry or biochemistry related discipline of chemistry



• Possess superior teaching abilities



• Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities



• Teaching, research, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWUs commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students and campus communities.

Preferred qualifications, please address in your cover letter:

• PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline of chemistry



• University-level teaching experience



• Teaching or research experience in organic chemistry or inorganic chemistry



• Experience or interest in developing and teaching online courses



• Experience in curriculum development and improvement.



• Experience working in a diverse environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching methods designed for broad student success. Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.

Salary: $52,000 - $56,000, based on a full-time nine-month appointment and depending on education and experience.

Schedule/Appointment: Non-Tenure Track, 9-month Appointment. Additional summer teaching may be available.
