Position Summary

IVA Environmental Services is seeking a versatile and motivated Environmental Scientist – Natural Resources to support and grow our ecological field services and permitting practice. This position will be responsible for conducting wetland delineations, permitting, and mitigation planning, along with contributing to broader natural resource evaluations, due diligence projects, and species surveys.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical capabilities in wetland science and protected species assessments, and bring experience in at least one related service area such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, arborist or tree protection, ecological restoration, or field sampling. In addition to technical execution, the role includes project management responsibilities and an expectation to support and initiate business development through proposal contributions, scope writing, and maintaining client relationships.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct wetland delineations using federal and applicable state methodologies
• Prepare and manage wetland permitting documentation, mitigation strategies, and agency coordination
• Perform site assessments and field surveys with a focus on wetlands, protected and endangered species, and habitat conditions
• Lead or support vegetation surveys, habitat mapping, tree evaluations, and GPS-based field data collection
• Manage projects including schedules, deliverables, budgets, and quality control
• Participate in proposal writing, scope development, and client follow-ups
• Help identify and pursue new opportunities through existing or prospective relationships
• Contribute to technical reports, regulatory submittals, and due diligence deliverables
• Work cross-functionally with other team members including GIS analysts and permitting staff
• Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and ecological best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in wetland delineation and permitting , with additional exposure to species permitting or habitat assessments
• Familiarity with UMAM, state and federal permitting processes, and ecological regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing projects from fieldwork through client delivery
• Ability to contribute to or lead business development efforts such as proposal writing and client relationship building
• Strong communication skills, including client interaction and technical writing
• Proficiency in GPS field tools and mapping platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field assignments
