Mechatronics Engineer – Advanced Development, Robotics

Role Overview:

Are you a hands-on, inventive engineer seeking to develop cutting-edge robotic technologies? Do you thrive on solving multidisciplinary challenges and rapidly prototyping ideas that push boundaries? SharkNinja is looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to join our robotics Advanced Development team — a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on building the next generation of robotic floorcare products.

In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, integration, and testing of innovative mechatronic subsystems — including actuators, sensors, and control components — that will power future Shark robots. Working alongside experienced engineers across several disciplines, you'll help transform early-stage concepts into robust building blocks that evolve from prototype to production-ready technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and development of next-generation mechatronic systems for early-stage robotics platforms.
  • Design, prototype, and test robotic hardware at a rapid pace to iterate concepts quickly and address technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (ID, UX, Manufacturing, Quality) and external technology partners to ensure a holistic design process.
  • Apply systems-level thinking to brainstorming, concept development, and feasibility studies for new technologies.
  • Identify promising technology trends and propose new approaches to robotic mobility, manipulation, and perception.
  • Document and communicate technical findings consistently with clarity and precision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience working on electromechanical systems, ideally within robotics or automation.
  • Experience in designing and integrating sensors, actuators, motors, and embedded control systems.
  • Proficient with mechanical CAD (Creo Parametric or SolidWorks), circuit/system design tools, and simulation environments (MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Strong analytical and hands-on prototyping skills, including debugging and testing hardware in a lab environment.
  • A collaborative, curious mindset with a drive to learn and grow as part of a fast-moving team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven experience designing robotic or automated systems, with a preference for consumer products.
  • Solid understanding of control system architectures for robotics, including motor control loops, sensor fusion, and motion planning.
  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and model shop hand tools.
  • Experience working in early-phase product design and fast-paced prototyping environments.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to shifting project priorities.
