Duties

If selected for this position, you will perform a range of intelligence, investigative, advisory, security and training duties in support of the national security and counter-terrorism responsibilities of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), District of Nebraska. Typical work assignments will include:

Planning and conducting investigations and/or financial examinations based on cases or broad legal issues;
Performing a range of research analysis, intelligence and investigative activities for the USAO which are essential to developing terrorism and national security cases;
Accessing, collecting, examining, and analyzing data, evidence and other information;
Preparing reports that include significant findings, conclusions and recommendations for additional investigative actions;
Responding to queries from law enforcement and other agencies;
Providing expert advisory services to local, state or regional law enforcement agencies, first responders, homeland security, emergency management, public health and other agencies;
Developing and presenting training on intelligence and terrorism related topics to law enforcement organizations, first responders, the business community and other organizations within the district;
Serving as a spokesperson and representing the USAO before a wide range of intelligence, law enforcement, military, business, and other organizations and preparing briefings on selected topics of interest; and
Providing specialized assistance and advice to USAO management, local, state, regional, and other federal entities in security administration and crisis management planning.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

Qualifications
GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service as defined below.

Specialized experience is defined as experience which has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform a variety of research analysis, intelligence and investigatory work as described in the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: developing or participating in the development of investigative plans; conducting various types of investigations including financial audit investigations; utilizing a variety of law enforcement and intelligence databases and other tools to monitor and conduct research activities; coordinating and/or conducting surveillance of suspects with appropriate law enforcement/investigative agencies; identifying and analyzing evidence; preparing reports on investigations which include significant findings, conclusions, and recommendations for additional investigative actions; and providing knowledge of national security issues.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
