Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Purpose of the position: The purpose of this position is to provide speech-language therapy for students who have been identified with communication disorders. This therapy is performed under the guidance, direction, and supervision of a Certificated Speech-Language Pathologist.
- SLPA will support a PCSS SLP at their elementary school site, as well as, support additional district SLPs at various sites.
- 5 days per week/5 hour days from 8:15-1:15, 25 hours per week.
- Position is between the 605 and 57 freeways, and between the 10 and the 210 freeways.

Overtime Status: Non-exempt
Salary Range: $32 - $48 Depending on Experience:
SLPA 0-5 Years $32 - $38 /Hr
SLPA 5-10 Years $38 - 43 /Hr
SLPA 10+ Years $43 - 48 /Hr
Full-Time or Part-Time: Full time preferred; wiling to consider PT applicants

Position Responsibilities and Duties: - Provide speech-language therapy assistance to students that are appropriate for the students age and needs.
- Work with students having a variety of communication disorders and complex communication needs.
- Work within a dynamic, student focused team to implement services, which are appropriate for the students age and functional level.
- Follow and implement treatment plans established by the supervising SLP, maintain documentation and data toward therapy goals, document the progress toward goals, and report information to the supervising SLP.
- Assist in the preparation of therapy materials such as core boards, choice boards, communication books, visual icons, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and additional equipment used for therapy activities.
- Other duties as assigned by supervising SLP.

Minimum Skills or Qualifications: - Associate degree of Arts (AA) or Sciences (AS) degree from an accredited speech-language pathology assistant program; or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in speech-language pathology or communication disorders from an accredited institution, that includes SLPA certification.
- Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a valid California State license to serve as a Speech/Language Pathology Assistant by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
- Prior SLPA experience in educational or clinical settings is preferred.
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required.
- Computer-literate; has knowledge of standard company software applications & use of the internet.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information.
- Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner.
- Reliability, dependability and flexibility.
- Ability to reliably commute to job
Work Environment and Physical Demands: - Regularly required to be able to sit and view computer screens for extended periods of time
- The noise intensity level is moderate to high
- Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, and talking
- Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
